The measurement that decides everything is the length of your longest uninterrupted wall. A 153-inch sectional will crowd a room if it has to turn a corner or cross a doorway. Start with the wall, not the floor plan. Then measure your walking path. Leave at least 30 inches of clearance in front of the seat.

For a power recliner, you need the footprint when it is fully extended. A 78-inch sofa can push past 90 inches into the room, and that extra depth has to live somewhere. Check both the upright and the reclined dimensions before you settle on a piece. If the numbers feel close, a stationary frame with a deeper seat may do the same job in less space.

Among the features in this department, the one worth paying for is the power recline. If you sit in the same corner most evenings, the motor is quiet and it saves you from fighting a lever. The sleeper sofas are a close second when you host guests but do not have a dedicated guest room. The mattress inside is a bonus, not a daily mattress.

It suits a weekend visitor, not a permanent sleeper. The single USB charging port is handy, but it appears on only one model, so do not let it steer you toward a sofa you do not otherwise like. We would put the money into the motor, not the plug. Assembly is straightforward across half the range. The Cloud modular pieces snap together without tools. If you rearrange rooms or move often, that ease adds up.

This department leaves a few things out on purpose. None of these sofas hide storage under the seat. If you need a place to tuck away blankets, one of our storage beds will serve you better. There are no built-in reading lights or LED strips. Leather is not on the menu either.

Every cover is a soft textile, corduroy, chenille, linen or faux fur, and that means pets and bare skin land on a forgiving surface. The sizes lean large. You will not find a compact loveseat here. If your room is tight, a single accent chair from the Living Room department may fit where a full sofa cannot.
